Hydration

A hydration pack is a type of hydration system built as a backpack or waist pack containing a reservoir or "bladder" commonly made of rubber or flexible plastic. The reservoir contains a capped mouth for filling with liquid and a hose that allows the wearer to drink hands-free. Most hoses end with a "bite valve" that opens when the user bites down on it; the valve may be protected by a dust cover. Some hydration packs are insulated to keep water from freezing or becoming warm. Reservoir sizes commonly range from 1.5 to 3.0 litres.

Racks and Panniers

Bicycle panniers

There are many styles of bicycle panniers. Touring panniers come in both rear and front styles, usually sold in pairs, intended to hold enough equipment for self-sustained tours over days or weeks. Commuters who bicycle have pannier options designed to hold laptop computers, files and folders, changes of clothes or shoes and lunches. Some cyclists create makeshift pannier bags out of grocery bags, grocery baskets, garment-bags, convertible backpacks, and various multi-purpose bags as alternatives to purchasing a commercial pannier.

Bicycle panniers are usually made of nylon or other synthetic fabric. As bicycles are often ridden in the rain, many panniers are built to be water-repellent or waterproof by themselves. Others include built-in rain-covers, or rain-covers are offered as accessories.

Panniers are usually built to attach to a rear rack or front rack already fitted to the bicycle. Removable panniers hook onto the top edge of the rack and are often held in place by a latch or elastic mechanism.

Bicycle luggage carriers

Mounted on the front or rear of a bicycle. The rear mount is more common. A style of rack clamps only to the seatpost, does not require eyelets or additional hardware, but has a limited capacity.

Car Racks

Bike carriers

Please check if a rack is approved for your vehicle.

Rear carriers should not be used on vehicles with rear spoilers unless it's a small boot spoiler on a saloon car which does not touch the fixing straps. Great care is always required when using these carriers - they can be dangerous if fitted incorrectly.

Plase check to see if an  additional light board is required. The socket for this is usually wired into the rear light circuit - this is usually a job for a local garage or auto electrician.

If in doubt about which one to buy we recommend a Saris Bone
